SAGE METRO ST. LOUIS

Picture
The LGBT Center of St. Louis and SAGE Metro St. Louis joined forces in 2011 to offer a smoking cessation program.  Rates of smoking cigarettes are significantly higher amongst the LGBT population than the general population.  Stay tuned for updates regarding this developing program!

SAGE Metro St. Louis incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in June of 2008. This effort is the result of over two years of work and research by a group of LGBT advocates and professionals. SAGE Metro St. Louis joins the SAGENet affiliation as the 9th SAGE organization in the United States. The founding SAGE located in New York City recently celebrated their 30th Anniversary and is the oldest not-for-profit organization dedicated specifically to the service and advocacy of LGBT older adults. ST. LOUIS LGBT HISTORY PROJECT

Picture
The LGBT Center of St. Louis has joined with the St. Louis LGBT History Project.  Operated by Steve Brawley (founder), Colin Murphy and Ian Darnell, The Project celebrates, documents and preserves the myriad stories of The Gateway City’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender past.  Pieces from The Project will be on rotating display at the LGBT Center of St. Louis.  Further, The Project will contribute to LGBTeach and our other programming.

Founded in 2007, The St. Louis LGBT History Project  serves as the unofficial collecting arm for the St. Louis LGBT Archives  at UMSL, conducts and facilitates oral histories with area LGBT Elders, works with area LGBT organizations on maintaining their own archive, and seeks out and preserves LGBT history, documents, artifacts and memorabilia. The Project has developed a LGBT Walking Tour in the city's Central West End, is available to speak on St. Louis’ LGBT History and provides displays from The Project collection. The goal of The Project is to not only celebrate and preserve our city’s LGBT History, but make it accessible through digital media. For more information check out their  Facebook page or visit  www.stlouisgayhistory.com.
