The mission of The LGBT Center of St. Louis is to provide a safe and welcoming space, resources and support to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning and ally community of St. Louis and its surrounding areas through education, empowerment, outreach and community building.



ABOUT THE CENTER

The LGBT Center of St. Louis is a federal tax-exempt 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation registered with the State of Missouri. Our mission is  The mission of The LGBT Center of St. Louis is to provide a safe and welcoming space, resources and support to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning and ally community of St. Louis and its surrounding areas through education, empowerment, outreach and community building. 

The Center has been in existence in several forms since 1975. In its current form the center is located at 4337 Manchester in The Grove neighborhood of the Forest Park Southeast District. This current center has been housed in a physical location since 2008.

The Center, which is currently open every day, serves an average of 241 clients a month through its many programs, events and workshops. We are 100% volunteer staffed, with over 300 trained volunteers. A majority of the Center’s patrons range in age from 19-55.

  • Artist Exhibitions

In just 2 years this awarding winning Center has participated in over 50 collaborations with local, regional and national organizations. The Center has been regularly used by 22 St. Louis LGBTA(lly) non-profits. Several of these non-profits regularly use the center for their monthly meetings.

The Center has one of the largest and most unique collections of LGBT books, recordings, movies, DVDs and magazines in our Resource Library. The number of pieces numbers well into the thousands. Our growing movie collection is used by many LGBT Youth as a referral source or just a chance to relax in a safe comfortable environment.
